Study/Bedroom 3: Project-Managed Completion of a Stalled Renovation - Peterborough

The brief
This room arrived on Ambleside's books as a partially completed renovation, work had been started independently before the homeowner brought Ambleside in to take over project management and see it through to completion. The floor had already been stripped back, but wall preparation was incomplete, skirting had been removed and not replaced, and the window reveals were left without finishing trim. Rather than a straightforward like-for-like refurbishment, this required an assessment of existing work, a plan to bring it up to specification, and coordination across multiple trades to close it out.
This is precisely the scenario where a single point of contact matters. Homeowners picking up a stalled project themselves are typically left sourcing and scheduling several separate tradespeople, checking their work against each other, and absorbing the risk when handovers between trades don't line up. Ambleside removed that burden entirely, providing one point of contact, one schedule, one team accountable for the finished result.
Scope of works
Preparation: the room was stripped back further to establish a clean, consistent base across all surfaces before any finishing work commenced
Wall make-good: partial skim coat applied to walls requiring remediation, including filling of existing holes and defects, followed by sanding to achieve a surface suitable for decoration
Joinery: new skirting boards installed throughout to replace sections removed during the earlier, incomplete works
Window detailing: new UPVC trim fitted to the window reveals, blended with the existing windowsill to achieve a continuous, factory-finished appearance rather than a visibly patched repair
Heating: new radiator installed and connected by a qualified gas engineer, integrated into the room's existing heating circuit
Decoration: full internal decoration to walls and woodwork, finished to a standard suitable for either a study or bedroom function
Flooring: new laminate flooring supplied and fitted, replacing the previously stripped subfloor
Trades coordinated
All work was carried out by Ambleside Approved Contractors under single project management, including:
Laminate flooring fitters
Gas Safe registered engineer (radiator installation)
Painter and decorator
Handyman (remedial filling, snagging, and finishing details)
Sequencing was managed so that each trade's handover fed cleanly into the next; wall preparation ahead of decoration, decoration ahead of flooring, snagging held until the end to catch anything requiring a final touch.
Outcome
Completed in 3.5 days from a standing start of an unfinished, partially stripped room. The homeowner received a fully finished, move-in-ready space without having to manage a single tradesperson directly.
From small fixes to full renovations, Ambleside gets it done.
